Section 48E credit
30% base, up to ~50%
The federal Clean Electricity Investment Credit applies to qualifying commercial solar and battery storage placed in service by for-profit and certain tax-exempt entities. It starts at a 30% base credit and can rise toward roughly 50% when domestic-content, energy-community, and prevailing-wage adders all apply.

USDA REAP
Grants paused for FY2026
The USDA Rural Energy for America Program offers grants and guaranteed loans to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems and efficiency improvements. Grant applications are currently paused for FY2026; guaranteed loans may still be accepted.

Per-kWh battery rebate
The Self-Generation Incentive Program offers per-kWh rebates for battery storage, with higher rates for equity-resiliency customers in high-fire-threat areas. Rates and funding change as program steps fill.

NEM 3.0 / Net Billing
Exports pay avoided-cost
Under California's Net Billing Tariff, exported solar is credited at an avoided-cost rate — roughly $0.04–$0.08 per kWh — rather than the near-retail rate NEM 2.0 customers received. Existing NEM 2.0 customers are generally grandfathered. Battery storage lets you use your own solar during higher-value hours instead of selling it cheap.
