Own your system, keep the tax benefits

Solar shouldn't be complicated. Neither should paying for it.

Four Ways to Go Solar

Every situation is different. We'll help you choose the right path during your complimentary consultation.

Most Popular

PACE Financing

Property Assessed Clean Energy — repaid on your property tax bill through programs like CaliforniaFIRST and YGRENE. No credit check. Transfers with the home.

  • No credit check — secured by the property, not you
  • Payments roll into your annual property tax assessment
  • System and balance transfer to the new owner if you sell

Best for: Homeowners and business owners who want zero out-of-pocket with no credit barriers

Solar Loan

Own your system from day one. Finance through our lending partners with competitive rates and terms up to 25 years.

  • You own the system — you keep every dollar of savings
  • Fixed monthly payment, often less than your current electric bill
  • Federal tax credit benefits flow to you as the system owner

Best for: Homeowners with tax liability who want maximum long-term savings

PPA / Lease / Prepaid PPA

Power Purchase Agreement or lease — a third-party owner installs and maintains the system. You pay for the power it produces. In 2026, the prepaid PPA through Maxwell Power is the primary way Riverside homeowners access federal tax credit value after the residential 25D credit ended.

  • Zero down, zero maintenance responsibility
  • Prepaid PPA option: pay upfront for 20 years of power at a 17–30% discount — ownership transfers to you after 6 years at no cost
  • Third-party owner claims the §48E clean electricity investment tax credit and passes savings to you through lower monthly or prepaid payments

Best for: Homeowners who want to go solar with no upfront cost or tax liability — or who want to prepay and capture ITC value without tax liability

Cash Purchase

Pay upfront and own it outright. Maximum return on investment with no interest, no payments, no third-party involvement.

  • Highest total savings — no interest, no fees
  • Immediate positive cash flow from day one
  • Full eligibility for all federal and state incentives

Best for: Homeowners and business owners who want the strongest ROI

  • Clear options, plain English, no pressure
  • Licensed general contractors since 1993
  • We handle permits, installation, and PTO

Federal Tax Credit Paths

The federal solar incentive landscape changed in 2026. Here's what it means for you.

For Homeowners

Residential Clean Energy Credit (25D)

Eliminated

Was 30% federal tax credit on solar + battery for homeowners.

The residential 25D credit was eliminated by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (P.L. 119-21, July 4, 2025). It is not available for any property placed in service after December 31, 2025. Existing credits for systems installed before that date are unaffected. Source: IRS.gov.

Third-Party Ownership (TPO) Route

Active

Access federal incentives through a lease or PPA where a third-party owner claims the §48E credit.

  • Financier claims the §48E credit and passes savings to you via lower payments
  • No tax liability required on your end
  • Solar facilities must begin construction before July 5, 2026 or be placed in service before January 1, 2028

California Battery Rebates (SGIP)

Open

State-level rebates for battery storage remain available.

  • Equity Resiliency tier: up to $1,000/kWh; Equity tier: up to $850/kWh (SCE territory has funding available)
  • New Residential Solar and Storage Equity (RSSE) program: up to $1,100/kWh storage plus $3,100/kW solar for qualifying low-income households

For Businesses & Nonprofits

§48E Clean Electricity ITC

Federal

30% base — up to 50% with bonuses

30% base investment tax credit on commercial solar + storage systems.

  • Base 30% with prevailing wage and apprenticeship compliance
  • Solar must begin construction before July 5, 2026 or be placed in service before January 1, 2028
  • Available for transferability and elective direct pay

Bonus Depreciation

Active

100% first-year expensing

100% first-year expensing for business-owned solar systems.

  • OBBBA made 100% first-year bonus depreciation permanent for qualifying property acquired and placed in service after January 19, 2025
  • 5-year MACRS was removed for solar property beginning construction after Dec 31, 2024. Consult your CPA.

Elective Direct Pay

Active

Full ITC value as IRS cash payment

Nonprofits and government entities can receive the credit as a cash payment.

  • Available to nonprofits, schools, churches, tribes, and government entities
  • IRS refunds the full credit value — no tax liability needed

Credit Transferability

Active

~$0.90–$0.95 per $1 of credit

Sell your tax credit for cash if you don't have sufficient tax liability.

  • Transfer your §48E credit to a corporation that can use it
  • No tax liability required — receive approximately 90-95% of credit value

§48E applies to commercial and business-owned systems.
